“We’re honored to support a program that empowers kids like Elliott and fosters inclusion for families like ours”. – Philip Chan
For more than decade, the Chan family has spent their winters in Whistler. Skiing quickly became the centre of their family life, a place where they connected, explored, and watched their boys grow. But as their son Elliott got older, finding activities that worked for both him and his older brother, Isaac, became increasingly difficult. Elliott, who has ADHD and ASD, often found mainstream sports challenging, though he loved being on snow.
Everything changed the year they were introduced to the Whistler Adaptive Ski Program.
The tailored support, patient instruction, and steady mentorship gave Elliott the space to build confidence at his own pace. His connection with instructors and ski buddies turned skiing into something he genuinely looked forward to. And for the first time, Isaac and Elliott could share full days on the mountain together, laughing, talking, and building memories that had felt out of reach.
.
For Philip and Cathy, those moments were profound.
That’s why the Chans have chosen to donate to Whistler Adaptive every year for the past three years. They want other families, including those who have the capacity to give, to experience the same sense of possibility the program created for them.
.
This holiday season, we invite you to join the Chan family in supporting programs that make the mountains accessible to every family. Your gift helps ensure more kids find confidence, community, and joy on and off the slopes.
Our Goal: $60,000 by December 31
This year, we’re aiming to raise $60,000 to keep adaptive sport and recreation programs accessible, inclusive, and full of opportunities for growth and connection. If you’re planning your year-end giving, we hope you’ll include Whistler Adaptive — every donation helps create a more inclusive Sea to Sky where everyone belongs.
