Organization Background

The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program Society has been in operation for over 20 years with over 3,000+ lessons per year taught in 18 adaptive sports. Through generous donations, we allocate resources for equipment and volunteer training to work with a range of individuals and athletes. Alpine skiing and racing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, hiking and trail riders, hand-cycling, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rowing, swimming, triathlons, running, yoga and gymnastics are all part of Whistler Adaptive programming and our philosophies on “Grassroots to the Podium” and “Sport for Life”.

Management Bios

Chelsey Walker (Executive Director)

The Executive Director of the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program, Chelsey Walker, has enjoyed a career in Whistler and BC’s sports system, outdoor recreation and heli-skiing industries. Having grown up in Whistler, on and off the slopes, Chelsey has a worked as a ski guide, coach and as an instructor in various sport disciplines. She has also been involved at a high level in sport development, community and sport policy as well as in administration of these various bodies. Since starting as a junior ski racer with the Blackcomb Ski Club, Chelsey has had a strong desire to be connected with the Olympics and Paralympic games. For Chelsey, the 2010 period here at home was a once in a life-time opportunity for her to be involved in creating a major sport legacy for the community of Whistler and all of the Sea to Sky Corridor.

Kim McGauley (Volunteer and Training Program Manager)

Kim has spent most her life chasing her visually impaired mother down the ski hills across BC. Having competed in highland dancing, volleyball, and softball to a high level, sport has always been an important part of Kim’s life. After graduating from Mount Allison University in 2016, Kim has been working in the non-profit sector. From child and youth work, to advocating for food equality in the Downton Eastside of Vancouver, Kim has a passion for making the world a more accessible and equitable place.

Daniel Rubin (Athlete Coordinator)

Daniel Rubin is the Athlete Coordinator for Whistler Adaptive. He works to build year round community based sport and recreation opportunities for our participants. When Daniel is off work, he spends his time mountain biking in Squamish where he lives or ski touring in the Whistler area. Originally from Santa Monica, CA he has endeavored to follow his passions for the outdoors which eventually brought him to BC. Daniel loves being a part of the sea to sky community and is honored to be able to serve such a vital community based resource as Whistler Adaptive.
