Bursary Opportunities

Applying for a WASP Bursary

2022/23 APPLICATION PERIOD: July 15, 2022 to July 14, 2023
2022/23 BURSARY PERIOD: August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023

Thank you for your interest in applying for a bursary with the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. Please read carefully and complete the forms to the best of your ability. If you are filling out this application on behalf of a prospective client please include your name and contact details at the end of the application.

The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program offers bursaries for each operating season or on a year-round basis (August 1 to July 31). You can apply once per year for bursary assistance.

Applying for a bursary or being a bursary recipient in the past does not guarantee that you will receive a bursary this year. Bursaries are based on financial need.

Please note:  If you are chosen to receive a bursary, you may be required to submit a photocopy of your tax return as proof of income and the bursary funds will not be applied retroactively to programming already received.

Bursary Funding Levels

Athletes who demonstrate a financial need may apply for a bursary to participate in our year-round or seasonal activities. Bursaries are limited to $1,000 year round.

If you are awarded a bursary and are participating with a group, your bursary will cover the Whistler Adaptive activities and equipment your group is scheduled to attend. Please refer to the winter and summer programs listed on our website for details on the activities offered. Please plan in advance, and make your reservations as early as possible.

Bursary recipients need to arrange for their own transportation to program activities unless otherwise indicated in the program website. Bursary applications should be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to planned activity.  Bursaries received less than 6 weeks prior to the planned activity may not be processed in time to participate in that activity.

Requirements of Bursary Applicants

Failure to comply with these four requirements will result in being ineligible for future bursaries.

  1. Bursaries are made possible through the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations. If you are selected to receive a bursary, you must write a thank-you letter so that we can send it to our sponsors who would like to learn more about what we are doing.
  2. Reservations are required for program participation. Please plan in advance and make your reservations as early as possible. Please register for programs at by emailing info@whistleradaptive.com or calling 604-905-4493. Please note on your registration form that you are a bursary recipient. Mid-week and non-peak periods are the preferred times for individuals who receive bursaries to book their programming.
  3. Cancellation policy: If you make reservations for Whistler Adaptive Ski and Snowboard lessons, but are unable to attend the lesson, you must call 1-800-766-0449 ext. 2 (and ask for the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program) at least 14 days prior to the lesson to cancel your reservation. Late arrivals need to call (604) 905 2071. For all other program cancellations please call 604-905-4493 as early as possible before scheduled lesson time. If you do not show up for your lesson and failed to cancel, that lesson cannot be re-scheduled and will be deducted from your bursary funding. Failure to notify the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program of cancellation could jeopardize your bursary. We often have waiting lists for lessons and proper notice of your cancellation or late arrival could allow us to accommodate others.
  4. Bursaries are non-transferable. If you are unable to use the bursary, you must notify the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program as soon as possible. Bursaries cannot be carried forward to another season or year.
