Whistler Adaptive offers a variety of biking programs, ranging from Valley Trail cruising to tackling Whistler’s off-road single track trails. Biking programs are available for individuals with a wide range of abilities. Hand-cycling experiences are aided by low-to-the-ground wheels powered by the arms rather than the legs. Whistler has a range of paved and gently graded trails for novice to experienced riders.

Whistler Adaptive offers group camps for various sports and can customize a weekly adventure for the mountains and for the valley opportunities. We also run sport camps throughout the year like skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing, kayaking, paddling and more. 

The kayaking program builds skills on Alta Lake and local rivers. Full-day outings and multi-day courses are designed to build confidence and independence and create a solid foundation in the sport of kayaking. Participants get immersed in a paddling environment to learn strokes, wet exits, rolls, ferries and eddy turns. Participants can enjoy a mellow day on the lake or experience the thrill of the current on the River of Golden Dreams or Lillooet River. Double kayaks are available for beginners and those with mobility restrictions. Adaptations are made to the equipment to fit the individual’s needs.

Early mornings on glassy Alta Lake are best experienced gliding across the water in a rowing shell. Whistler Adaptive offers instruction and coaching using shells that can be adapted with pontoons and specialized seats and straps to suit the individual’s needs. Rowing can offer independence, strength and an adrenaline rush. It is also a sought-after cross-training tool for competitive para-athletes. For wheelchair users, rowing can be an excellent way to open the chest and strengthen the muscles opposing those that are often overworked.

Whistler Adaptive offers Nordic skiing, Nordic sit-skiing, snowshoeing and the biathlon experience. Whistler Adaptive takes you through Whistler’s Lost Lake trails which is centrally located near Whistler Village or to Whistler Olympic Park in the beautiful Callaghan Valley, where over 50 kilometers of cross-country ski trails are expertly groomed for classic, skate and sit skiing, ranging from beginner to Paralympic calibre.

The Whistler Adaptive yoga program is a great introductory course for participants new to adaptive sport and the community. As an open and inclusive therapeutic program, yoga allows people of all physical and cognitive ability levels to get in touch with their bodies, still their minds and focus on their wellbeing. With a great community of volunteer yoga instructors, Whistler Adaptive is able to offer this inexpensive program in Whistler and Pemberton. The instructors are also trained in chair yoga and are experienced in working with individuals with mobility restrictions. Whistler Adaptive aims to have a two to one instructor to athlete ratio.
