Behind the Scenes at Whistler Adaptive: My Internship Experience

Posted: May 15, 2026Read Time: 2 minutes

Over the past couple of months, I’ve had the pleasure of interning at Whistler Adaptive Sports, developing my skills while working with a supportive and welcoming team.

From my first day, everyone on the team was friendly, approachable, and always willing to help. They created an environment that made me comfortable asking questions without fear of judgment. What I appreciated the most was how much this team valued initiative while still providing guidance when necessary. This allowed me to learn skills on my own, and I ultimately earned the team’s trust to lead marketing and communications with minimal supervision.

A Look at My Role

During this internship, I worked on several areas of marketing and fundraising. A large part of my role involved content creation for social media, including Instagram and Facebook. I helped promote the Spring and Summer programs and the silent auction for the No Limits Gala. This gave me hands-on experience creating content for a nonprofit, learning how to connect with an audience and carry a consistent brand voice.

I also contributed to copywriting projects, working on email newsletters and blog posts. Writing website content for seasonal programs and special events helped strengthen my skills and taught me to communicate information clearly and in a digestible manner for the audience.

Lastly, I helped the team with research and outreach for our No Limits Silent Auction. I spent time researching local businesses and reaching out to gather donations. It was a great way to build communication skills and gain experience with professional outreach.

This internship allowed me to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve learned through the BCIT Marketing Management program in a positive and supportive environment. Being part of a team that is genuinely passionate about their work and the community encouraged me to put my best foot forward throughout this role.

For future students or anyone interested in marketing and communications, Whistler Adaptive is an amazing place to gain experience, build confidence, and grow professionally.
