Thursday, November 6 & Friday, November 7, 2014 with Mary-Jo Fetterly
The 16-hour Adaptive Yoga course is open to current yoga instructors or carers, friends and family of people in wheelchairs or with physical limitations. Learn invaluable tools and techniques that allow you to adapt poses and use yoga to create comfort and relieve pain. Adaptive Yoga is also becoming a sought-after form of exercise and therapy for an aging population. As a yoga teacher, this course will challenge you and provide you with the tools to work with a unique group of children, adults and seniors.
Mary-Jo has been studying and teaching yoga since the mid-80's. She opened the first yoga studio in Nelson, BC called Shanti Yoga Works. During her first years owning the studio, she developed a 200-hour teacher training program and Trinity Yoga company which has now trained over 1500 yoga teachers. In 2004, Mary-Jo became a quadriplegic. Drawing deeply on her knowledge of yoga and with a self-designed rehabilitation program, Mary-Jo made remarkable and unexpected strides in her healing. With her personal experience of yoga as a form of healing and her own adaptive yoga practice, Mary-Jo is an inspiring and knowledgeable teacher. Learn more about Mary-Jo.
