This annual camp, hosted by Soldier On, brings together ill and injured military Veterans from Canada and international partner nations to participate in adaptive sport, build connections, and support their physical and mental well-being.
Whistler Adaptive Sports Program is proud to once again support the camp, providing expertise in Nordic and alpine snowsports as well as yoga sessions for participants. Alongside these activities, the camp offers a wide range of adaptive winter experiences, including sledge hockey, ice fishing, sitting volleyball, biathlon, snowshoeing, and bobsleigh, all designed to promote confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
Soldier On’s relationship with Whistler goes back to 2010, when the organization participated in a Paralympic summit during that year’s Paralympic Winter Games and was introduced to Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. An official partnership between Soldier On and WAS began in 2013, and over the years, the two organizations have worked together to deliver this unique camp.
In addition to the IWSC, Whistler Adaptive Sports Program and Soldier On have supported Team Canada in their training for the Invictus Games, providing adaptive sport coaching and tailored sessions that help athletes prepare for international competition.
Formerly known as the Allied Winter Sports Camp (AWSC), this year’s International Winter Sports Camp welcomes an expanded roster of participants, including, for the first time, members from South Korea. The camp has a long-standing history of supporting Veterans by fostering recovery, connection and confidence through adaptive winter sport in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Over the years, the camp has welcomed participants from Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
We’re honoured to continue this partnership and look forward to welcoming the Soldier On community back to Whistler for another unforgettable week of sport, friendship, and recovery.
